In 2009, the Executive Office of Education for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts established six regional Readiness Centers to build stronger partnerships among educators in the early education, K-12, and higher education sectors and create a more unified and coherent public education system in the Commonwealth.

One important function of the Readiness Centers Network under the Early Learning Challenge Grant from the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care is to provide academic and career advising to early childhood educators in the mixed delivery system.  In addition, the goal is to establish a single standard process for connecting educators to academic advisors and career counselors. The creation of the Early Educator Pathways website is aimed at achieving that goal.

The Readiness Centers Network has worked in collaboration with the regional Educator and Provider Support (EPS) grantees. Beginning July 2010 EEC released the EPS grant initiative to support professional development for the early education and care and out of school time field. The Grant was awarded to regional professional development partnerships across the Commonwealth. Through this grant EEC supports the pathways that lead educators to degree attainment and increased competency.
